Love the Lord your God

It’s my final post for Creative Retreat 😦  Like others have already said it has flown by and been such a blessing, both in preparing the posts and seeing how others are using this great creative outlet to explore the bible, deepen their faith and encourage others.

IMG_2943I thought I would share with you how I finished the little faith book that I showed you in my last post so that you can see it through to the end.  It’s a really fun little project and a great gift of encouragement for a friend.

The first page I did used the Joy stamp from the kit.  I really love this stamp so I wanted to include a quote that used it.  I went with PSALM 16:11 ‘You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.’  Just dwelling on this verse is amazing – when we are in God’s presence we can find the fullness of joy.  It got me thinking about how much time I spend searching of joy in other places.

A simple but huge command.  I love the way the colours of the stickers and alphas from the kit combine with the black and white diagonals on this page.

On the next spread I lettered the fruits of the Spirit.  Again I used the Joy stamp from the kit along with the Love stamp from the January Kit and some of my own alpha stickers and stamps.  I used the cross stamps from the kit to fill in the spaces around the words.

Finally, on the last spread I added a page with space to list things to be thankful for.  I used the heart stickers from the kit as bullet points and scattered some cross stamping across the bottom of the page.  The last page uses stickers and alphas from the kit to write ‘God of grace’.

These pages are super simple when you have the kit.  All you need to add is some patterned paper and maybe a few extra stamps and it comes together very quickly.  I’m looking forward to giving this one to a friend.

Thank you for checking out my post.  To continue to see more faith and bible journalling from me you can follow me on Instagram.

Much love

  1. Good morning, Jen. Thank you so much for sharing (parts 1and 2) of your little faith book. I love the simplicity of the pages: they are clean, but colorful, and definitely full of joy! I like how you mixed patterned paper with Kraft, stickers with stamping, plus your addition of had lettering/drawn lines. Your fruits of the spirit spread has a really nice balanced composition of weight, straight, and curved. It is a great example of faith journaling created outside of the bible. Sometimes we need the freedom of working outside the 2-inch margin because we are led to make connections between multiple verses, scripture, prayers, and thoughts. I really love this — thank you. Wishing you all the best in your future adventures.
