Matthew 8:23-27 – “And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
To me, this passage is a great reminder that even through the storm, the Lord reigns. I sometimes struggle with anxiety, especially through hardships or things that are out of my control. Reading this passage, I can almost imagine myself right there in the middle of that storm with Jesus and still freaking out just like the disciples did. I sometimes imagine God saying these same words to me in my fearful moments – “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” What a statement to snap you back into reality, am I right?! The truth is, even in life’s most startling and ugly moments, when it’s hard to find even a glimmer of good, we must realize that God is right there with us. He’ll never leave us or forsake us, so why should we question the valleys that He walks us through? Our Lord and Savior is one that even the winds and seas obey, friends! I pray that I remember this through life’s next storm rather than allowing fear to take hold. I pray that you can cling to this truth as well!
As soon as I saw those super cute rain boots in the kit, I knew I had to get those and the rain drop stamps into my Bible to document life’s storms. I used washi tape, inks, and markers in coordinating colors for a cohesive look. The statement, “through the storm He reigns” was pulled from the devotional content and I knew I wanted to highlight that. I added a quick prayer incorporating the stamps and hand-lettering before finishing off the page with those pretty clips at the top. It may be a quick entry, but it’s a visual I’ll never forget! I hope you have as much fun playing with this kit as I did, but more importantly, that you cling to the promises found in God’s Word that He is leading you to. I pray that you are blessed by your time spent with Him!
