John 16:33 – “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
What a powerful truth! Jesus reminds us that He has already overcome the world. That is still as true for us today as it was for His disciples that He was speaking to in His final hours. Our God is an overcomer and because He lives within us, we have that same power to overcome through His strength. We are promised many troubles in this life, but with God, we can “take heart” because the battle has already been won for us. Jesus specifically states that in the world we will have tribulation and, boy, is that more relevant to some of us in this current moment than others! BUT, the truth is, we all struggle. We all have seasons of both hills and valleys. I pray that this powerful statement from Christ Himself gives you peace if you’re struggling now, or for the future trials that are to come. We are choosing the narrow path that is less easy to take by choosing to follow God, but He isn’t taking us a down a road He hasn’t already walked and conquered Himself. With Him, you will conquer too, friend!
To complete this page I followed Julie’s suit and made a fun shaker card out of the packaging from the stamp set for this month’s kit. You don’t have to have all the shaker-card-making-tools on hand (I don’t even know what they are to be honest!) but instead, just get creative with what you have. I cut a piece of the decorative back of the devotional to fit perfectly inside and then decorated with the “take heart” design from the front of the devo and “I have overcome” alphas from last month. I layered the textured stamps underneath and some washi before adding color-coordinating glitter and heart confetti. I made a matching jumbo striped bow with ribbon I had on hand and found the perfect striped washi to tie it all in together. Such bright and cheery colors with the classic black and white stripe were so fun to play with this month! I hope you’re enjoying your kit too and that you are encouraged by the verses you get to journal with Jesus.
