Bible Journaling with Deeds | Joy – the Fruit of God’s Love

“…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

“Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, ‘This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.’ For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.   Nehemiah said, ‘Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.’  The Levites calmed all the people, saying,
“Be still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.”

How many of you have absolutely loved and CHERISHED this month’s kit and devotion??  What about the lovely printables available as a free download in the “Insiders” group??
How many of you have been uplifted and encouraged by this month’s process videos from the team as well as the amazing posts you’re seeing of this kit on display!  This is how the word of God is amazing!  It impacts lives and helps others to express themselves in their thankfulness!  God is working on each of us for something, and we all know there’s probably more than one aspect of the Spirit’s fruit He’s working on, Amen??

Oh my goodness, I think I need more of this.  This fruit!  This amazing fruit that comes by way of the Holy Spirit!  I’m thankful that God brought me this far…though I feel I have a loooooong way to go.  The fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.  I’m on Joy, today.  😀

While we’re talking about Joy, I finally get it.  Hard to wrap my mind around it, truthfully.
I realize we’re way past Christmas (or is it way before??) as we talk about Joy.  Joy to the World, the Lord is come!!  YES!  I love that Joy, it’s the Joy that we all need!
Up until recently, I didn’t know that the fruit of God’s love, is this Joy.  Wanna see?

In my process video, I go into what I’ve learned in the book of Nehemiah.  Now, in all actuality, up until THIS VERY STUDY, I had no idea that the Old Testament was so dowsed in Joy!  I mean, they didn’t have Jesus yet, just the promises of a “coming One.”  That very promise, kids, is why we are to have Joy.  The Joy of the Lord is our Strength, and what a joy it is to know that God’s love allowed for it!

Did you know God loves you?
Did you know He hates sin?
Did you know that He’s made a way to turn away?
Did you know that He’s made a way for joy to enter in afterwards?
Did you know that only by God’s love can we ever experience joy?
Did you know that the joy of the Lord is our strength??

There’s a strand of grace here.  A strand that lifts one up from the rocks when she/he feels, “I can’t get any worse.”  Lifts us from the darkness when we think, “I’ll always be alone.”  Lifts us into warmth when we know the cold all too well.  Lifts us to seek His face of mercy when we say, “There’s no hope.”

God’s love is a love that attracts, binds, and abides.  Because of said love, we are drawn, forgiven, and saved.  THIS IS THE REASON FOR JOY!  The reason for Joy to ALL the world.
Nehemiah and Ezra pleaded with the Israelite people to understand that they were allowed to have joy, and to have it to the fullest!  Drink, eat, be happy, share the good news of grace with others!  As they realized their moral bankruptcy and spiritual decay, they grieved, wept, mourned.  This honored God!  God then showed His shining face upon them, and they understood – BECAUSE OF GOD’S WORD PREACHED – that they were forgiven and had need to celebrate!

It is ABSOLUTELY my joy and pleasure to know the great God of the universe.  Even more of a joy that He knows me so well.  And He wants me to have joy.  He wants me to remember why I can have it.  He wants me to remember His love as the down-payment for His joy in abundance.  He wants me to remember: Him.

Jesus Christ, my Savior.  He died for the sins of all people.  He is God’s way to repentance, forgiveness, and joy.  This joy is meant to strengthen and encourage us.  It’s what people will see before we even say a word.  It’s what the “world” will perceive and consider strangely attractive.  It’s what will get me through the day-to-day, the little stuff and the big stuff.

Preach this gospel of grace over yourself:
“I am a child of the one true God.  He loves me and has given His life for me.  Because of His love, I CAN have joy.  Because I can have joy, I can do today.  I can do tomorrow.  I CAN! Thank you Jesus!”

Much love,
