“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7 NLT
I’m one of those people who likes seeing results. I like seeing some sort of proof that I’m going in the right direction: growing, progressing, learning, or just being able to see what I need to work on. And I love that God allows us to see the results of His work.
When we surrender to Him and allow His Spirit to work in us, we are able to grow these good fruits that He produces (i.e. love, joy, peace, patience, etc). And in doing that, we uproot the bad fruits that we so easily tend to (idolatry, jealousy, selfishness, division, etc).
Our bad fruit is proof of our humanity and allows us to see just how much we need to allow God into the deepest spaces of our lives.
Our good fruit is proof of God’s Spirit at work within us.
I really struggled with selfishness growing up (still do, if I’m being completely honest – but God has been doing big work there), and I have made idols out of MANY things (food, dancing, media, comfort, etc). Those are just some of the bad fruits we’re working on uprooting. Over the last 10 years, and through many circumstances, God has produced a beautiful harvest of joy, peace, and self-control in my life. These are fruits that will always need to be tended to, through God’s Word, prayer, and a humble heart.
I love seeing these results of our God! And I would love to hear about what fruits God is/has been producing in you! If you feel so led, leave a comment about it! 🙂
I started my page by highlighting my verse with Gelatos, then laying down my title. I used the greenery stamp and a heart sticker from this month’s kit
to add a little something extra to my title, and I love it 🙂 I added a little washi tape to the top and bottom of the page to add a little color and frame the page better, and then added some more stickers from this kit to tie it together. And of course, I used a nice smattering of the enamel dot stickers in the kit, because I love enamel stickers TOO MUCH. I also had some fun with my journaling by adding in some stamped words throughout – did you notice? “Love, Goodness, Joy, Peace, and Patience” in my journaling are stamps from this month’s kit! I love how it turned out and can’t believe that I had a journaling pen and ink that matched!
