Bible Journaling with Joydi | Bear much fruit

I LOVE FRUIT! I love sour ones and sweet ones. My favorite fruit is mango; it’s so juicy and sweet it makes my mouth melt. Can’t have enough of it! What’s your favorite one?

Even though I love fruit, I have found myself many times choosing not to buy it. Fruit is expensive, specially if it’s organic. Have you ever had the experience of going to the supermarket wanting to buy some healthy organic food but telling yourself ” I’ll buy it next time” because you don’t want to go out of your budget? Nowadays, it’s a luxury to buy fruit. Sometimes I feel I am being pushed not to buy them even though I know they are healthy and essential for the proper function of my body. They provide vitamins, minerals, and nutrients which helps strengthen the inmune system, improves the good appearance of the skin, among other things. When you consume fruit, you live a better and healthier live.

IMG_6210Just as the consumption of fruit is important for our physical life, bearing fruit is important for our spiritual life. Jesus said:

If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.(John 15:5)

How many times have you tried to do something without God’s help? How did it go? I’m pretty sure you gave up before finishing because you did not have the strength to continue. Have you ever felt disconnected from God? Have you ever believed that it’s perfectly normal to feel that way? Satan makes us think we are better off apart from God.

In John 15:1-8 Jesus, mentions the word “remain” eight times.  Jesus is revealing himself to the disciples as the true vine. He is letting his disciples know the importance of waiting, staying, continuing in Him no matter the circumstances because He is not only our source of our strength but also He came to do what we could not do.

IMG_6211It’s more uplifting to hear go, move forward, you can do it, this is your year, than to hear wait, remain, abide. Remaining seems boring; a waste of time, but we cannot do what God has called us to do without Him. Jesus is the vine but we are the branches connected to it, and as branches we need to bear fruit, we can only do that when we remain in Him.

Remaining in Jesus is not simple. Our flesh tends to disconnect from God every time anger, hatred, jealousy, or discord takes control over our emotions. How do we remain in Him? How do we stay connected in a world that is always promoting disconnection? With three simple words Jesus answers these questions “REMAIN IN ME“.

When you feel anger, REMAIN IN HIM. When you feel hate, REMAIN IN HIM. When you don’t understand what is going on with your life, REMAIN IN HIM. When you feel  life is unfair, REMAIN IN HIM. Follow Jesus, follow His instruction; His example. Follow Him  passionately. Follow Him with your heart, mind, and soul. Stay connected to the vine, no matter what. Don’t try to bear fruit on you own, it doesn’t work that way.IMG_6212God wants us to bear fruit, but connected to Him. He wants our life to be fruitful. Be patient with yourself, remember bearing fruit takes time, REMAIN IN HIM. I invite you to read John 15:1-8 and let this passage speak to your heart as it did to mine. Let The True Vine reveal to your life like never before, and let God clean you with His word so you may give much fruit.

Until next time,

Joydi Michelle💕
