He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:3 KJV
I’m not at all surprised at the amazing creations I’ve seen posted this month. Awestruck, but not surprised. I LOVE this community of believers!
How beautiful, unique and wonderful to know that God is using the September Faith Art Box to touch so many lives and lead so many souls! I have enjoyed seeing my “feeds” flooded with those who have been through, or are embarking on a journey where they have found Christ as the solid strength in times of weakness. It’s awesome!
I have some things I want to share today as to why the kit touched me so much. I’ve got a process video up on the Creative Retreat Youtube channel as well, and I’m speaking to the way I’ve seen God move in my stubbornness and pride. Yes, pride.
I go into greater detail on the video, but I will say a bit here as to how “sheepish” I’ve felt. Beyond what we know that word to mean, I have felt crippled, lost, and frightened, just as a little sheep would in less than desirable circumstances. The printables of the sheep images coordinate with this month, but they also correlate with the power of God’s molding and shaping my heart: I am more needy, more dependent, more reluctant than I thought I was. And in this time of my life, I’ve realized that God wants me to seek Him in my intense neediness.
We are sheep, kiddos. That’s the plain and humbling truth of it. Psalm 23 speaks to the neediness we have for the LORD God, but not as much as it does to the overwhelming care, love and devotion of the LORD God, our Shepherd.
As we wander and navigate this crazy, busy, messy and corrupted world, one thing is certain: the enemy is working to separate us from our wilderness Guide; our faithful Leader. He’s working to pick us out of our comforts, shake our beliefs, and terrorize our heart’s well-being. It’s called “the valley” in Psalm 23 and it’s a frightening place to be most of the time.
As scary as the “valley” may be, it’s a blessing and promise of Psalm 23 that says, “He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” OH PRAISE JESUS and AMEN! We have someone guiding our footsteps, providing a path, showing us purpose and giving us hope! We’re in His hands, snuggled tightly as we go from one end of our terror to the other.
The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
The LORD is my Guide; I have everything I need.
The LORD is Care-taker of my soul; He will sustain me to the end!
The Lord draws us through the valley that we may make it to the mountain top of praise! Don’t forget that as hideous of a thought as being a “sheep” is, we’re in the safest of bosoms; have the utmost of care; know the Greatest of Shepherds. Nothing can separate you from the love of God…nothing.
PS – I just figured out the best way I can use my interleaved bible. I will most likely maintain art and creativity on the scriptural portion of the bible pages, but when it comes to all that empty space, I’m gonna use it for note-taking and journaling! YAY!
NO MORE INTIMIDATION! 😀
