Happy new year! Do you make a resolution each new year? Do you choose “one little word” as your annual theme? Last year, my word was joy. This year, I’m resisting peer pressure to choose a different word, and going with… JOY! 😄
“No one can get Joy by merely asking for it. It is one of the ripest fruits of the Christian life, and, like all fruits, must be grown.” – Henry Drummond
With God’s guidance and patience, I’ve been growing this fruit through prayer and studying scripture. Will you join me for Creative Retreat’s monthly devotional study? The January Faith Art Box is available now, and it’s a great place to start. We’re spending some time in Proverbs 31 and looking at what it means to be a “Proverbs 31 woman”. Our friend and author Lisa Harriston Birch writes our devotional this month entitled “Beloved Woman,” and she challenges us to look at this passage with a broad, timeless perspective.
The January kit features a beautiful mix of cool colors and a pop of soft yellow. The décor sticker sheet includes a set of white wordfetti, fun florals and our signature wonky hearts. The coordinating alpha sheet is a round, multi-colored typewriter-style alphabet plus hearts, numbers and some punctuation too. This month’s stamp set includes winter floral arrangements, script words “beloved” and “His” plus supporting words for building your own journaling phrases. We’re rounding out the collection with two gold paper clips topped with a soft mint faux leather bow and a custom printed blue micro dot bow!
I hope you love the new kit and that it inspires you to spend time in God’s Word. Remember: bible journaling doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. You don’t need to be an artist. Read and reflect on scripture, then make a simple entry to commit your prayer or verse to memory. You can start with a few stickers, maybe a stamp or two, then jot down a prayer. And don’t forget to date the page! It’s so fun to look back on past entries, and you’ll want to remember when you journaled it.
Our design team will be sharing their bible journaling entries with us on the blog and YouTube channel all month long. Be sure to follow @creativeretreat and #creativeretreatkits on Instagram so you won’t miss a thing!
