Bible Journaling with Lew |Living Water

“Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
      John 4:13-14 NLT

When I hear the word water, the things that come to mind are a glass of clean drinking water, a creek, and the ocean.

Each of those things represent something deeper: Nourishment, refreshment, peace, tranquility, power, strength, and life.

Water has a lot of symbolism, and the more I think about its different facets, the more I see a correlation with Jesus, our Living Water. We can’t function as we’re created to without water, it’s a soothing source of peace, it’s powerful and destructive, and it connects people.

Jesus tells us in John, chapter four, that those who drink the water He gives will never thirst again. In John chapter seven, He explains that this Living Water is His Spirit. Imagine life today without access to this Living Water, Holy Spirit. I don’t know about you, but I would for sure fall apart. He is all of those things: nourishment, refreshment, peace, tranquility, power, strength, life, and so much more. I so often take Holy Spirit for granted, only sometimes stopping to think about the time before we had full access to His life-giving presence. I love the imagery of water the bible gives us when describing Holy Spirit, it brings new life to who He is.

This page was a little sad for me to make, as it’s my last one for the Creative Retreat Design Team. But what a one to go out on! 🙂 I used one of the teacup printables (available for members of the Creative Retreat Facebook Group) that coordinates with this month’s kit and it’s so cute! I put a tag near it with my scripture journaling and then added a little heart sticker from this month’s kit to the teacup for a little extra touch of cozy. I used washi tape at the top of my page to make the “Living Water” stamp from this kit pop out a little more, and used another sticker and some stamps from this kit for my label. I used the alphabet stickers in this kit to create a fun dripping effect, as well as a personal sentiment to this scripture. To tie everything together, I used one of the bows from this kit and, of course, where would I be without my favorite enamel dot stickers scattered around the page? I used these ones 🙂
