Bible Journaling with Heidi: What a Friend

Hello friends! I am happy to be back with another blog post for you all! I have to say that this devotional and kit came at a perfect timing. I know I say that every time, but it’s true every time! God’s timing is so perfect.

I have to start by admitting something I am ashamed of. Last week, during the last week of finals, I didn’t read my Bible one single time. I prayed, but not as much as I should have. I didn’t turned to Jesus as I should have done during that week. Today, I realized that I truly missed spending time in prayer and in the Word. As I sat down to create my entry, I took the time to read the words of the song – and let me tell you, they were exactly what I needed and they were such an encouragement! I can’t wait to spend time with Jesus this week!

The first two verses say this:

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus know our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

What a privilege! We have a friend like Jesus to carry all of our griefs and sins! Yet we often forget to give that burden over to Him and we carry that burden for far too long. We realize we can’t do it anymore and then we take our burdens to the Lord in prayer. There is no other friend like Him – who wants to carry our griefs and sorrows, our discouragement, our sins on His shoulders. But friends, we need to take them to Him! He knows and understands what we are going through and He wants to help us through those times. Take it all to Jesus in prayer.

I hope these words from the hymn encouraged you as much as they encouraged me. We have a precious friend and Savior in Christ – let’s turn to Him in prayer and give Him our heavy burdens.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, in the midst of this busy season. You can still buy this kit here (http://rwrd.io/wkjedmx?c) and you can follow me @creative4hisglory on Instagram. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and an amazing start to the year 2020 with Jesus by your side!
