Flourish In Response To His Word

When I first saw this month’s beautiful watercolor floral title I knew I wanted to use it to make a bold title in my bible. That was before I even dug into the devotional content. I didn’t know where I would put it, or how I would complete the title, but I knew I would find the perfect spot.

I love the Creative Retreat devotionals for their short and sweet, yet scripture rich and thought provoking content. There were so many places where this flourish title would fit; but I decided on Ezekiel 36:26

26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

To get the full emphasis of this verse, it is important to read the rest of the surrounding passage (and chapter, and the whole book for greater understanding of the context). What is being mentioned in this passage is how God will change His people to desire him. And through that change, His people will return to worship God.

27 I will place my Spirit within you and cause you to follow my statutes and carefully observe my ordinances.

It is important that I remember when reading this, it is not just a feel-good verse. This is a heart-changing verse. How can I flourish in my life without following what God has planned for me? What good is it to be successful in my life (financially or otherwise) if I am not living in the way God asks me to? The only way to truly flourish is by responding to his Word.

Read it.

Seek to understand it.

Apply it to how I live.

Grow and Flourish.
