Hi friends! I am excited to be back to share this post with you. Heads up, I am going to get very vulnerable and honest. I like talking about the real stuff, so I am going to share it.
Before quarantine happened, I was super regular with my Bible reading and studying and I was loving it. I had a lot on my plate with school and everything, but I still took an hour or more, before going to school, in the Word almost every day. When quarantine started, I was sort of regular, but quickly stopped being regular. Part of the reason was because I had so much time! I hadn’t had that much time in ages. The other part of the reason was anger towards God. I have wanted to quit it all at many times during quarantine.
But in Hebrews 12:1-2, God calls us to persevere.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.“
During a race, there will be obstacles, some visible, some not. There might be a rock you can’t see, and stumble over. There may be a storm, or a scorching sun. But we are called to run the race until the end no matter the circumstances. Persevering is definitely not easy, but when we remember that we have already won the race because of Christ, it’s so much more encouraging!
I am still not completely out of my rut, but I have acknowledged it and I am working on it. I want to persevere in this race, because it was never meant to be easy. I don’t want to give up on God, because He has never given up on me. I invite you to think about this this week, when you feel like giving up. God has never and will never give up on you. You are victorious.
