Hi friends! I am excited to be back to share this page with you. Two weeks ago, we talked about the importance of abiding in God, and what that means. The next logical step is to bear good fruit, and honor God with that.
In Galatians 5, after a long list of bad fruit, of different sins, Paul gives us a list of the fruit that we should bear – the fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 says : “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” When we truly abide in God, spend time with Him, remain in Him, this fruit will come more naturally to us, it will be a result of the time we spent with Him. For example, it’s always easier to love someone when they are easy to love. But to love someone that constantly rebels, is angry, complains, etc. is a lot harder. It’s kind of the same way when we abide in God. It’s easier to bear good fruit when we spend time with Him, but if we aren’t, it won’t come very easily.
I invite you this week to try to spend a little extra time than you normally do with the Lord, and seek to bear good fruit! Spend time in prayer, studying His Word, memorizing His Word, and meditating on it, even in the business of your everyday life. I will do the same this week as well. Abide in Him.
