I don’t know about you, but I like to be in control. I like to know what my entire week will look like before it even starts. I like to plan out the details – I’m not a spontaneous person! If I plan a trip, I like to plan what I will do each day. But that’s not really how life works. I don’t really know what my future will be like, and I can’t control much, to be honest. Sometimes I don’t understand how or why God orchestrates certain things.
Isaiah 55:8-9 says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
God knows things that we don’t. We only see the small tiny dot on the painting, and don’t understand it, but God sees the big picture. Isn’t that amazing? I find that this verse just really shows us how different we are from God, and how great and powerful He is! He knows the big picture, so why don’t we just trust Him with it? His ways are higher than our ways, and I think that His ways are most definitely better than ours, even if they are sometimes hard to understand.
Let’s try to remember that this week when something happens that we don’t understand. His ways are higher and better – let us trust Him with them.
