Isn’t it amazing how God is author of all things? It blows my mind when I think about how He knows everything and has everything under control. Sometimes I feel like I think the Israelites felt when they were waiting for the Messiah. Their lives weren’t easy and they were waiting for the Messiah to deliver them. Just like I’m waiting (and I’m sure many of you are too) for God to deliver us from the current pandemic and restrictions. It makes me feel so overwhelmed and depressed when I think about it all too much, but I need to remember that God is in control and He has a story to tell with this. I may never know it while I’m here on earth, but He has a purpose.
About 400 years before Jesus was born, Isaiah prophecied His coming. In Isaiah 9:6 it says “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
That’s what I want to remember this season. Though we may be living in hard times, God promised us a Messiah, and He has come already through Christ Jesus. He is our Wonderful Counserlor, our Mighty God, our Everlasting Father, and our Prince of Peace. What a gift!
