Rest In Christ | Elli

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28

As soon as I got my hands on the August stamp set, I turned right to this favorite verse of mine and stamped this simple sentiment in the margin. I didn’t finish the page though. I left the flowers without color planning to get back to it a little bit later. A little bit later turned into two weeks! You could say sometimes I’m a bit hesitant to add color to a page! But God knew when I would need to sit and meditate on these verses and REST.

I had been scrolling through my insta feed, and this verse kept popping up. Everyone had been journaling it it seemed. I knew God was telling me to sit down with this page, with these verses, and rest in Him.

Do you ever feel so anxious about all the things you want to get done? Good things. Things for Him. For His people. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and feel like I always need to be doing more. Spending more time doing this or that.

When I sat down to color this page, I turned on my Lauren Daigle Pandora station, and a song came on that I had never heard before. It’s called A Little Longer by Bethel Music. It’s a beautiful song and the lyrics just really resonated with me.

Coloring this page, listening to that song, meditating on who God is and His desire for me to find rest in Him, was so very RESTFUL. It was a beautiful moment and I wanted to stay in it just a little longer.

The Bible journaling process really helps me to rest in Christ and to delight in Him and His Word. It’s a beautiful thing, and I am thankful.

There’s a lot I could unpack in these verses, and God is constantly teaching me how to rest in Him, but I really just wanted to share how God used the process of doing this page to help me Rest in Him.

For this page I wanted to keep it simple and subtle. I used the Christ Lord stamps from the August faith art box to create these flower clusters and the “Rest in Christ” sentiment. I added color with my neo color II watercolor crayons. I finished the page by adding a few of the creative retreat heart stickers and used the circle sticker as a tab. I wanted to use the “I Am His” sticker because that statement alone brings rest to my soul. I am His!

The August faith art box is sold out, but you can still get this versatile stamp set. I’ve used mine at least a dozen times already! Be sure to follow creative retreat on instagram to see how the creative team is using this month’s kit. You can find me on instagram too here. And don’t forget to use the #creativeretreatkits hashtag to share how you are getting creative with this set! I would love to see!

Many blessings, friends!

Resting in Christ,

Elli
